FOUR CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT COLUMBUS MOTOR SPEEDWAY AWARDS FETE

The best and brightest drivers and crews in Ohio were honored at the 2014 Columbus Motor Speedway awards banquet Saturday night. The posh Berwick Manor restaurant was the location for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series extravaganza as nearly 300 revelers convened to celebrate their accomplishments. Titlists in each of the four racing divisions found themselves nervously thanking their car owners, crews and sponsors while clinging to an armful of hardware attesting to their achievements.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR PROGRAM ANNOUNCED FOR ALL DIVISIONS

Columbus Motor Speedway will offer an unprecedented Rookie of the Year program in 2015. Adding to the already $40,000 post season cash doled out in 2014, the 2015 ROY program will offer a total of $1,500 spread amongst the four weekly racing divisions. The O'Reilly Auto Parts late model division Rookie of the Year will earn $500 as will the Columbus modified division top rookie. Chad Pendleton took advantage of mechanical woes that felled Donnie Hill and Kyle Purvis to claim Saturday's NASCAR Whelen All American Series feature and the 2014 Columbus Motor Speedway track championship that went with it. TIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLES ALL AROUND HEADING INTO SATURDAY

While much of the focus recently has been on the tight championship in the O'Reilly Auto Parts late model division, all of the other three NASCAR Whelen All American Series classes class point championships are up for grabs this Saturday as well.
